Hello Magic Jack Users!!!Our MagicJack Story, In Using Our MagicJack Plus!! ((<Note word PLUS. The newest version is called MagicJackGo)).By 13 Nov 2011, we had been on our new Atlantic BroadBand Cable Service, very satisfactorily, for ~a year. We had been hearing from friends, of all the low cost (~$33/year) and other advantages of MagicJack VOIP Service, which gives low cost phone service, using a good Internet Connection. After studying much internet information, we began to understand all of MagicJack’s (MJ) nice advantages for persons who already have a house-full of devices, which were purchased for their “Plain-Old-Traditional Telephone Service” (POTS). These devices, usually are plugged into the house’s phone wires, with a small wall plug connector called RJ-11. The myriad phone devices, for an existing phone system, might be landline phones hand-sets (cordless or not), plus their original answering machine, plus their original Caller ID Box, plus etc!! All the homeowner has to do is follow the supplied MagicJack Instructions => A) Purchase a MagicJack for about $40, B) With the supplied Cable, C) Plug the MagicJack into your Internet Router. D) Un-plug the incoming house phone wire, and then E) Re-plug house phone wire into your MJ’s RJ-11 jack. BUT CAUTION: The MagicJack device is made for the normal phones (and phone devices). of say the last 10 to 15 years. We have some older phone handsets made back in ~1980, which seemed to overload our MagicJack, so that the call would not “hang-up”. We had to disconnect this phone, before our MagicJack would give a new dial tone for a new call. We have not had problems with newer phones. We think , that if the phone (or phone device) has its own plug in power source, there will be less trouble with it on a MagicJack. Our story: On 13 Nov 2011 we had been on Atlantic BroadBand Cable Service for ~a year, and their VoIP Phone Service, was due to go up in $ cost. After Reading-Up On the VoIP Choices, & Getting Friends’ Advice, we decided to purchase our first “MagicJack Plus”: for ~$55 from our local store. (We believe that the up-to-date versions are now called MagicJackGo for $40, and on sale at $20. Use google to find best prices & places to purchase.) The “MagicJack” is advertised=> “Simply Plug It In, And It Works”. And work is has, very well in fact, ever since!!!
We found out the following: After following instructions on power-up our MJ and connect to our Internet Router, we plug-in the abovementioned “small phone wire connector” into our MJ’s RJ-11 jack. We found that we could pretty much continue to use, all the above-mentioned various phone devices we had already had wired-up. Our old POTS home system, converted to MJ, continued just as before!! …But now the source of our telephone connection is your Internet Provider, running on whatever billing account this happens to be on!! If you like this idea => You should use google to find best prices & places to purchase. As you do this, you will also find places to read up on other persons opinions and experiences about MagicJack. '''Although we really like our MJ service, we (Henry Gurr Family) have had some problems, with our MagicJack Plus, with dropping words, after 30 minutes into a call. Our unit happens to be an “early purchase”: Perhaps the “first run-of-the-assembly-line”, are weak somehow??? Ours tends, after prolonged use to warm up quite a bit: Assuming that “over-heating” was the cause of the dropped words, I made a few hacksaw cute, removed the outer plastic housing, and placed our MJ where cool air can flow, but fingers, etc won’t touch the circuits inside: For the last 19 months (as of this rev) we have had very little of this word drop anymore. Send email for more information and how to “hacksaw cut” In Summary, Our “Total Communications" below ~$42/month. This Includes Our:1) Computers on ABB ~$39/mo, in addition to the above mentioned MJ.
4 May 2014: Up-Date: just arrived!!!We are on free 200 minutes / month with our new SmartPhone (Galaxy SII)!!!! Sincerely Henry Gurr ZMMQ CreatorEditor&SiteMaster4May14 Rev2Jan16 File= ZmmqMenu}MagicJackNowRunCool}02UpDate+FixErrors
