A Google Earth View Of Scenery, Frist Attempt By Henry Gurr, To Scene Match The Background Scenery Of Tom Zito’s 1974 Photo Of Robert Pirsig.

… You Can See The Road By The Edge Of The Water Of Hyalite Reservoir, And The Mountains Beyond

Gallatin National Forest, Ten Miles South Of Bozeman, MT. ….

…Assuming that the above-mentioned Tom Zito photo was taken close to the Langohr Campground, leads to looking at the nearest large body of water, called Hyalite Reservoir.
…At first I tried Google Street View, since they see to have captured nearly all streets, and shows ground level scene, same as Tom Zito’s 1974 Photo. Although Google Street View, shows all of lower Hyalite Canyon, their capture unfortunately stops 6.5miles short of Hyalite Reservoir, at “Practice Rock: Trail Head Parking Lot. Click Here.
******************
…Since Google Street View did not go far enough, I used Google Earth Pro, already installed in my computer, to show Hyalite Reservoir, and then rotate scene to what I then thought was as close as possible to the mountains shown in Tom Zito’s 1974 Photo. You see the result in Above /\ Photo.
… However the top edge of the mountains, don’t fit well enough those mountains shown in Tom Zito’s 1974 Photo Of Robert Pirsig. Nor in the right foreground is there any land with plants and low bushes, as is shown in Tom Zito’s 1974 Photo.
******************

…The next photo, shows Henry Gurr’s second Google Earth attempt to match the background scenery of Tom Zito’s 1974 Photo Of Robert Pirsig.

A Google Earth View Of Scenery, SECOND Attempt By Henry Gurr, To Match The Background Scenery Of Tom Zito’s 1974 Photo Of Robert Pirsig.

Henry Gurr’s 2002 ZMM Route Research Photo, Which Practically Exactly Fits The Background Scenery Of Tom Zito’s 1974 Photo Of Robert Pirsig.

… You Can See The Road By The Edge Of The Water Of Hyalite Reservoir, And The Mountains Beyond

… And For The Perceptive Viewer, It Is Seen That, The 2 Mountain Edges Left Of Mr. Pirsig, In Tom Zito’s 1974 Photo, When Compared To The /\ Above /\ Photo =>

… Are Shifted Relative To Each Other, In Indicating That The Tom Zito 1974 Camera Location, Was Significantly To The Right Of Where The /\ Above /\ Photo Was Talen, At The Center Of Hyalite Reservoir Dam.

Gallatin National Forest, Ten Miles South Of Bozeman, MT. ….
…This Above /\ Photo, shows a large body of water with mountains in the background. And in this photo, the top edge of the mountains, practically exactly fit the background scenery of Tom Zito’s 1974 Photo Of Robert Pirsig. What is most wonderful, is the excellent fit of mountains, in Tom Zito’s 1974 shown on BOTH sides of Robert Pirsig. However in the right foreground is there is not any land with plants and low bushes, as is shown in Tom Zito’s 1974 Photo.

My Problem Solving Story One: “How I Nearly Missed The Near Perfect Fit Photo.” By Henry Gurr ….
…Practically two days after the previous two Google Earth Views were created and uploaded in ZMMQ Gallery, I was relaxing outdoors, without much thinking of anything. Suddenly a memory automatically spontaneously mentally arrived => “Back in 2002, while standing on the center of the Hyalite Reservoir Dam, I took an 8 Photo Panorama Sequence!” … Knowing that the camera was at ground level, meant these photos would likely be better fit to the Zito photo, than Google Earth which has a high elevation Point Of View.
…As I started viewing in sequence these 8 photos, at first I passed right over #0903, because it did not seem to fit the mountains in the Zito Photo, and then I took a longer look at #0904. Ever so slowly, I gradually realized this photo showed nearly the same view of the mountains as did the previous 2 Google Earth Views, and thus, don’t fit well enough those mountains shown in Tom Zito’s 1974 Photo Of Robert Pirsig.
… I went on to look at the last of the 8 photos. And then In desperation went back to #0903. And then taking the time to look more choosily at the mountains, suddenly realized “Near Perfect Fit”!!

Important ZMM Book Gumptionology Lessons =>
->A) My memory of the existence of this 8 Photo Panorama Sequence, might NEVER have come back. It was pure luck that it did. And
->B) I looked straight at photo #0903, but passed right over it because it did not look good enough at the first seeing. A clear case of failure of human perception.

…The next photo, shows “A Google Earth View Of Scenery, THIRD Attempt By Henry Gurr, To Match The Background Scenery Of Tom Zito’s 1974 Photo Of Robert Pirsig.. ********************

You May View My 2002 8 Photo Panorama Showing 360 Degree Full Circle View Of => Standing On The Center Of The Hyalite Reservoir Dam
…AFTER this Panorama comes up, use the ClickDrag Bars at Right and Bottom, to scroll through the view. You will see photo #0903 just Left of Center. And photo #0904, is just Right of Center. Please remember that #0904 shows essentially the same view of the mountains as the first two Google Earth Views.

A Google Earth View Of Scenery, THIRD Attempt By Henry Gurr, To Match The Background Scenery Of Tom Zito’s 1974 Photo Of Robert Pirsig.

… Henry Gurr Used His 2002 Photo, Shown Previously, To Guide The Choice Of View, To Create This Google Earth View, Which Well Fits The Background Scenery Of Tom Zito’s 1974 Photo Of Robert Pirsig.

… And The Fit Is Near Perfect When Zito Camera Vs Google Earth Elevations “Points Or View” Are Properly Adjusted And Accounted For.

Gallatin National Forest, Ten Miles South Of Bozeman, MT. ….
. The Tom Zito Article Click Here, said " About a week into our journey, he [Pirsig] warmed to the idea of being photographed in the mountains where he was working on his next book, and this is the result..

…This /\ Above /\ Google Earth View Photo, shows a large body of water with mountains in the background. And in this photo, the top edge of the mountains, somewhat fit the background scenery of Tom Zito’s 1974 Photo Of Robert Pirsig.
…Now… What is most wonderful, is the excellent fit of mountains, in Tom Zito’s 1974 shown on BOTH sides of Robert Pirsig. practically exactly, AFTER Camera Elevations “Points Or View” Are Properly Adjusted And Accounted For.

Also You Can See How Tom Zito’s 1974 Camera Location, Could Be Say 200 Feet From The Parking Lot, Seen In The Right Foreground.
…This is how land with plants and low bushes, could be seen in lower right side of Tom Zito’s 1974 Photo.
…Above it says that ”The Fit Is Very Good” Camera Elevation “Point Of View” Is Properly Adjusted And Accounted For”.. If you want to know more, please send email to HenryG__USCA.edu

My Problem Solving Story Two: “How, For Two Days, I Missed Seeing The Possibility That Using Google Earth View Might Make A View Having Near Perfect Fit, To Tom Zito’s 1974 Photo Of Robert Pirsig. By Henry Gurr ….
… The mountain tops in the background of Tom Zito’s 1974 Photo, on the left side have several characteristic humps and a very obvious sharp “V” cut. However this sharp “V” cut does NOT immediately show in Google Earth views, when looking from the Dam End Of The Hyalite Reservoir.
…But once I saw my photo #0903 and knew where to look, the sharp, is there, but because of Google Earth Elevation “Point Of View”, is much higher, a further distant mountain fills in the “V” cut, and thus not obvious until it is known where & how to look, to see the “V” cut, in front of the distant mountain.

Important ZMM Book Gumptionology Lessons =>
->A) In my first uses of Google Earth, passed right over the view that showed the correct background mountains, because in my first & second Google Earth attempts, right away looked for this obvious “V” cut, but did not look close enough to see it. good However, this “V” cut, was actually there, but not obvious until it is known where & exactly how to look, to see this “V” cut!! The fact that I missed it several times, is a clear case of failure of human perception.
->B) Although the other parts of the background mountains top edge were correct, I allowed the not seeing the “V” cut, to divert from looking and seeing these.
->C) And considerably more at fault, was my acceptance of a different, clearly in retrospect wrong mountain, to be in my first two Google Earth Views, that were then posted.
->D) These errors would never have been found, if I had never => Suddenly a memory automatically spontaneously mentally arrived => “Back in 2002, I photographed an 8 Photo Panorama Sequence, standing at the center of the Hyalite Reservoir Dam”.

Thus, A Gumptionology Lessons Summary =>
…We must all remember these human perceptual failures to see correctly. And remember that errors of diverted attention, can so easily happen, without our not ever noticing it.
…. Practically our only protection, is go slow, be careful, and pay attention that something might be wrong.

This Completes, And Is The End Of => Henry Gurr’s Series Of 5 Photos Of His Google Earth Attempt To Match The Background Scenery Of Tom Zito’s 1974 Photo Of Robert Pirsig.

Borne As An Artistic Movement Around 1919, Russian Constructivism Proposed The Ideology Of “Production Art”, That Is, Art With A Social Meaning And Practical Purpose. This Above Image Shows =>
…One form of => Constructivism was an art movement that began in Russia around 1915 and lasted until about 1930. It was characterized by abstract and austere art that aimed to reflect modern industrial society and urban space. Constructivist artists rejected decorative stylization in favor of assembling materials industrially. Leading artists in the movement included Vladimir Tatlin, Alexander Rodchenko, Varvara Stepanova, and Lyubov Popova. They explored a new language of geometry, creating angular sculptures from scraps of industrial materials.

The Above Image Shows Some Of The Characteristics Of The 1920’s “German Constructivism Movement”. This Image, Is Talen From A You Tube “Creatine Art History” Presentation By Observant Mind, Who Says =>
…By 1915, Russian avant-garde had pioneered entirely new approaches to arts in three dimensions. Today we have the phrase think outside the box. They were so far outside the box they tore up the box, put it in the recycling bin. Tahleen was the first great innovator, using industrial materials suspended at the corner of the wall the title of this series shows us how innovative his thinking was. It is called a “corner counter relief” because it is suspended in the corner of the room. Think about it. The corner is formed from the intersection of two planes. It's the angle that marks the third dimension arising from the meeting of two-dimensional planes a counter relief [and] refers to a sculptural process between two and three dimensions where a carving … a casting or an embossed design … is sunk below the main surface area.
