EXPLANATION.
…Just after the meteoric success of Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance published April 1974, several different sources, Including The Tom Zito Article, tell us that reclusive Pirsig, had retreated to "
up in the mountains in his camper, writing.”, which was at the, Langohr Campground, in the Gallatin National Forest.
…Assuming that the above-mentioned photo was taken close to the Langohr Campground, leads to looking at the nearest large body of water, called Hyalite Reservoir.
…In in the /\ Above /\ Photo, 2 inches left of top center, you see Hyalite Canyon Road. And an inch below screen top, you see the road has a side loop. This side loop is the access road for the Langohr Campground.
…Back when Mr. Pirsig was writing the last parts of ZMM he said he was in his old Ford Pickup Truck Mounted Camper, at a wintertime deserted campground along the western shore of Lake Superior. This may have been the same camper Mr Pirsig had at Langohr Campground, but the Tom Zito Article said he with Pirsig "
We wound up spending two weeks driving through Montana in his Volkswagen.” This may or may not have been camper. But more likely, I seem to remember seeing photos of Pirsig’s Pickup Truck Mounted Camper, in a Montana Campground.
