A year ago, on Sunday December 18, 2011 Suzanne & Henry Gurr went to Columbia SC, and experienced a GREAT performance of HANDEL'S “MESSIAH”!! This was a choir & Orchestra CONCERT, 4 pm, at (and sponsored by) Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, 1100 Sumter Street, Columbia, SC 29201. The complete work performed by the Cathedral Choir of Men & Boys, Choir of Men & Girls, and the South Carolina Philhamonic. Because the hall was sold out, we got there early to get a seat, giving me time to take this and the next photo . While walking down the isle, I had short conversations with several groups of people on the virtues of various recordings of Handel’s work. Naturally I mentioned in our Xmas Letter. This being a Sunday, we attended Columbia Friends Quaker Meeting in the morning, shared lunch with Quaker Friends, Suzanne did shopping at EarthFare Grocery store, and in PM Henry was in attendance at the Anti War Rally, on SC State House steps, as you see , starting is the 2nd next photo.

Although this is a poor “stitch”, of my 3 photos, you can still see what it looked at the Dec. 18. 2011 Immigration Protest Rally, where some 6 speakers voiced challenges to South Carolina Immigration Law. The rally was on the front steps (and adjacent sidewalk) of the SC State House.
Here is a C&P of the description for a You Tube Video of the same rally => Immigration rally, Dec. 18. 2011 . Uploaded on Dec 18, 2011 People singing at rally to show support for legal challenge of South Carolina immigration law Sunday at the State House. About 300 people of various faiths gathered on the eve of a hearing in federal court challenging the law. Video by The State's John Monk. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bztkAWY_Plo

As you can see from this (and the next 9) photos, one of the protestors does his “speaking” with “the power of the pen”!! Since there wasn’t time to read these well enough to remember these quotations, let alone, internalize their full potency, I decided to make this photo record, for my (and how your) future study.
You will see, later in this series of shots, that the sign maker has been camping, on the SC State House Grounds, as part of the “Occupy Movement”. Then you see him in action!! From talking with this person (eventually I will find my notes of who he is), I learned that he makes a life of moving from one rally to the next. Support comes from persons who like what he does.
