Spring-Time At The Gregg-Graniteville Library, University of South Carolina Aiken.

… Approximately April 4, 2002..

…This is the library on the campus where I was Professor of Physics for 23 years. This Library is where I work with Paul Lewis, Librarian and Computer Expert. Many thanks to Paul for this photo and generous assistance in setting up ZMMquality web site. Paul was the person who originally saw the vision and possibility. He immediately volunteered his knowledge and skill. Now these pages are a reality.
Excerpt From Wikipedia. More Information Click Here. "> Click Here, To read more about Paul Lewis and the Software used on these WebPages.
…AFTER this 5 Albums Page comes up, read the description for the TOP Album = "ZMMquality Web Site: Our Software & How We Got Started" then click on the photo..
…AND AFTER this page of 9 small photos comes up, scroll down and read Text below any of the small photo.
…. Of course, you may click on any of these 18 small photos, to see a medium size photo. As true for all these Gallery Photos, click on the medium size photo, to get the full size view, which will STAY FULL SIZE as you click the >> to advance to the next photo.

University Of South Carolina Aiken (USCA) Science Building Solar South Facing Collectors & Greenhouses..
….This USCA Building Is "Home" To The Departments Of Biology, Chemistry, Geology, And Physics. … Approximately Aug 11, 2006.

…I moved into this building in the Fall of 1989. Two years earlier, I was on the Science Building Planning Committee and I am happy to say I had something to do with the Passive Solar Energy Collectors (seen in photo, as three long narrow strips of Windows) of this building, as well as its other Energy Saving Features.
….In this North looking view, all the windows you see face South. These windows, one row of windows for each of the three floors, are “Passive Solar Heat Collectors” for the building.
…The building runs East-West, so the longer South side with its long solar windows faces the Winter Sun. In the Summer, overhanging roof shields (seen in photo) prevent any of the sun' heat from reaching the South Solar Windows.

…Our building also has a Diesel Engine, which generates electricity as well co-creation of heat for hot water and absorption air-conditioning.
…The Greenhouses also create a substantial amount of solar heat, even in Winter!

University Of South Carolina Aiken (USCA) Science Building, As Seen From The Campus Quadrangle, A View Looking South.
…Showing North Side, Where Windows Provide Light Into 3rd Floor Chemistry Labs..
…….This USCA Building Is "Home" To The Departments Of Biology, Chemistry, Geology, And Physics. … Approximately Aug 11, 2006.. South view Science Building.

…As you may deduce by contrast with the previous photo, this three-story science building is built into a hillside, with it's North face mostly earth embanked!
…Such relatively warmer earth embanked building sides, are also shielded from the cold winter winds which come mostly from the NorthWest in the Aiken area.
…As is the case for our USCA Science Building, I was similarly involved with the planning of the first phase of the Ruth Patrick Science Education Center Building (RPSEC), where a number Energy Conserving Features were incorporated, as well as Architecturally Integrated Science Demonstrations.

Yup! That's yours truly, Henry Gurr, at the Columbia (SC) Camera Store, 24 May 2002 5:30 PM. This Is the First Photo Taken On My New Camera!
I was due to leave on my ZMM Research trip in just two days! Here I am tired but happy … I had finally purchased my camera for the trip. My first "digital", it is a Canon S30, 3MPixel with X3 Optical Zoom and with added X3 digital zoom. As of this writing, this camera has been very successful! It has gone through the insult of over 20,000 Miles of every abuse travel research can dish out: Heat, cold, rain, and intense rough gravel road car vibration ... and oh ... don't forget camping most of the time! Not to mention terrible road and trouser pocket dust and grime. This poor camera was constantly in and out of my pocket, just bumping around on the car seat, or dumped on the car floor. This camera has, with this treatment, thus successfully been through some 5000 pictures, computer downloads aplenty, and over 20 Compact Flash Cards (each 128 Mbytes. This whole time it was working like a champ with nary a glitch (not caused by myself) the whole time. Continued next photo.

…Continued From Previous Notes Re My Digital Camera: Although, my Canon S30 was a great camera for the first 5218 photos, it increasingly refused to "come on". At first, it was balky if the battery was slightly lower than normal charge. Then finally no amount of charging or fancy tricks would bring it to life. Extensive Google search for [Canon Digital Camera Problems] yielded no help or even good clues. I even tried reloading the software. Canon wants way too much for repair and their troubleshooting WebPage was no help. Mechanically and optically it is just fine. And there is probably the tiniest of glitch in the electronics or software. But .... I finally had to give up and it's dead hulk lies in a storage box waiting for any new inspiration.
