Mile After Mile, As The Road Curves And Turns Through the Dense Luxuriant Forest.

…“[Rich air and strange perfumes from the flowers of the trees and shrubs enshroud us.] Inland now the chill is gone and the heat is upon us again. It soaks through my jacket and clothes and dries out the dampness inside. The gloves which have been dark-wet have started to turn light again. It seems like I’ve been bone-chilled by that ocean damp for so long I’ve forgotten what heat is like. ” (Cont Next)

Six miles East of Mendocino, CA. The ZMM Narrator mentions “the trees and shrubs enshroud us. ” This complete “enshrouding” of dense green forests, is seen in my photos of this area, which is relatively near the Pacific Coast, and gets moist fog & coastal rains. But, as you will see in the forthcoming photos, this gradually changes to => “We See the Heavy Forests Are In Some Places, Opening Up To Open Lands and Thick Dry Grass.”
…However, after traveling some 36 miles inland, from the coast we see => “The Road Twists and Twirls Over More Grass Dry Grass Covered Hills” with only a few widely spaced trees.
…This change from “dense green forests near the Pacific coast” to “mostly dry grass” further inland, is typical for most of California

NOTE:
…As mentioned in a previous photo => The Narrator and Chris came through here in early afternoon. But I was not able to maintain this schedule, and by the time I arrived to this area, it was at sunset with ever darker dusk.
…Please excuse my photos for not having the sun illumination of the ZMM narrative. Also I did not notice, until after I got home, that all my Comptche-Ukiah Road photos start the “twisty” “S” turn first to the right. Sorry for this “miss-truth”. Of course, there are an equal number of “S” shaped turns that turn to the left first! **************************
