Interior of the A & W Rootbeer Restaurant Cardwell MT. (As stated in previous photo, I believe this was the correct town.). My craving a good cool A & W Rootbeer stayed with me ever since Mobridge SD. As I approached Mobridge that beastly hot afternoon, my research plan, of course, included locating the town's "A & W" where Pirsig and his companions found their "hamburgers and malteds". I was correspondingly primed for a "Rootbeer Cooler"! But I was sorely disappointed. (See ZMMquality.org/Gallery Photos ZMM Part I captions of Mobridge Photographs.) As evidence that my A & W craving never left me, I couldn't pass this restraint without stopping! The cold stormy rainy Montana weather shown in the previous didn't erase my South Dakota hot day thirst for one of those favorite old-time "sodas"!
