A & W Rootbeer Restaurant. I believe this was Cardwell MT about 1/2 mi west of Black City Park and intersection of Rt 55 with gas stations. Although author Pirsig states that they enjoyed “hamburgers and malteds at the A & W Stand in Mobridge SD, this is the only operating A & W that I encountered on the entire ZMM Route.
