A BETWEEN CHAPTER INTERLUDE: CLOSURE ON AUTHOR ROBERT PIRSIG’S “CLIMAX SCENE”:
…Date-Line: April 8, 2023 By Henry Gurr: The below material was previously supplementary discussion that was on previous photos. But realizing this introduced too much interruption of The ZMM Climax, this material is moved to the below =>

FROM THE THIRTEENTH PREVIOUS PHOTO:
Concerning Author Robert Pirsig’s “Climax Scene”.

…“Through the fog I hear the whine of gears of a truck and am terrified by it. .. "You have to get up, Chris." .. The wail is high-pitched and inhuman, like a siren in the distance. .. "You must get up!" .. He continues to rock and wail on the ground. .. I don’t know what to do now. I have no idea what to do. It’s all over. I want to run for the cliff, but fight that. I have to get him on the bus, and then the cliff will be all right.” (Cont Next)
*************************

NOTE:
…… And in the passage above, the Narrator says “I want to run for the cliff,
…For the Narrator (Also the real RP?), things have gotten so rotten bad, such a total impasse producing unbearable pain & agony, he can only think of immediately ending it all, jumping over “the cliff”, vertical drop onto the sharp rocks & ocean. Like any good novel … this increases the tension and worry in the reader … who gets to worrying that such disaster will actually happen!!

The “Whine Of Gears” From The Truck, If It Really Happened, Must Have Been Most Particularly Loud! And Persistent!! AND In Fog, Totally Unseen!!!
…This Adds High Emotional Terror, To An Already Bad Situation Between Chris & The Narrator, And Getting Worse By The Second!!
…It’s Total Impasse, And Of Course The Narrator Would “Want To Run For The Cliff, And Immediately End It All.
…But It’s ONLY The Narrators Remembering His Responsibility => “I Have To Get Him On The Bus” … That Temporarily Stops The Narrator.
.
…NOW: If this were a large, heavily loaded truck climbing the long, steep hill identified in /\ Above /\ Photo, the driver would have the truck in low gear, with the engine ‘just a roaring” at high RPM, as the truck labored up to the hill top “High Point.”.
…Of course, the Narrator would be.“terrified by it.” because it would be unseen, and would be looming at any moment from the fog immediately beside them! AND “terrified by it.” because he & Chris might get run over by the truck, before even seeing it!
…All this is a high order, dramatic narrative which Author Robert Pirsig develops for us. And some version of this may have actually happened.
…But more to the point => Mr. Pirsig’s presentation comes across as so real, we as readers are absolutely certain, that total disaster will happen at any moment.
…Now, Having Thus Set The Stage, Then Suddenly & Forcefully Appears Phaedrus !!
…..

FROM THE TENTH PREVIOUS PHOTO:
.Above It Is Stated That Author Robert Pirsig’s Map X, Is Locates At The Side Of The Pavement Shown In /\ Above /\ Photo [TENTH PREVIOUS]. This Would Be A Bit Right Of The Approximate Center Of That Photo, And In Weeds & Rough Grass Just Beyond The Left Metal Reflector Post.
…In the /\ Above /\ Photo, [TENTH PREVIOUS] Mr Pirsig's Map X, would be (in foreground) close to the left metal reflector post, beyond the weeds at curved road.
…Back in 1968, the ZMM Narrator was looking for a restful place to pull off,” this probably would be only a narrow strip of medium height rough, weeds & grass along the highway. This is because => Dense Coastal Bushes (as you have seen in previous and the next photo) would have kept the Narrator and Chris on the rough grass at highway pavement edge.

And Later We Are Told “The Truck Arrives, Stops, And The Driver Looks Out To See If We Need A Ride.
….This statement, along with other descriptions of this "climax scene" such as Chris is on grass, again leads us to believe that => The Narrator and Chris were at the immediate pavement edge at the beginning this curve.
…Of course the actual 1968 location for Chris & Author Robert Pirsig could have happened further from what is shown in /\ Above /\ Photo, and larger distances from it pavement.
…..

FROM THE EIGHTH PREVIOUS PHOTO:
… The truck driver stops because he sees Chris crumpled up on the grass, as is stated in above passage. Obviously, something was wrong, hence the trucker’s offer to help.
…Assuming a real person => I wonder who the trucker was? Does anyone have information? Please contact me with your suggestions and ideas. For example, was there any big construction going on in this area in late July 1968?
