A Brief History of Lochsa Lodge, From Their Own WebSite: Lochso Lodge Information.
,,,,By 1929, when Andrew Erickson built the original Lochsa Lodge, this area was renowned for its wildness and drew sportsmen who traveled the trail from Missoula, Montana, or the Lolo Motorway from Kooskia, Idaho. Lochsa lodge got a little more accessible in 1963, when highway 12 opened a route from Kooskia, Idaho to nearby Lolo, Montana.
….Generations of travelers, hunters, and thrill seekers have stopped a night or two at the lodge. When a chimney fire took down the original building in 2001, there was no question that the lodge would rise again — which it did in May 2002, using the same quality, sturdy craftsmanship that our original guests would have recognized.

,,,,The lodge, about 11 miles on the Idaho side of Lolo Pass along U.S. Highway 12, was built in 1928 by Swedish immigrant Andrew Erickson as a hunting and trapping retreat, according to owner Susie Denton.
,,,,The Denton family has owned and operated the Lochsa Lodge for the past 32 years, said Denton's husband Don. "My folks, Gus and Gerry Denton, ran it for 17 years," he said. "My wife and I have been up here for 15 years." (End Excerpt)
