…The /\Above/\ Panorama Photo, shows a great place to observe at first hand, the Geography & Topology of the Three Rivers that are forced to join to make Three Forks Of The Missouri River: The above Panorama Photo was taken at the at The Three River Headwaters State Park, which has an Observation Platform, at the North End of essentially a small low mountain positioned (as you see in above Panorama) between two of these Rivers. This small mountain also was a camping spot for The Lewis & Clark Expedition, who called it “Fort Rock”, because it was an elevated, flat, relatively free of trees, easier place to defend, if attacked.
…In above Panorama, at the Left End, in the distance you see, a low area with 5 Electric Power Poles, rhis is a Gap Between The Cliffs, Of A Major Mountain Ridge, that forces these Three Rivers together. (At the Right End of This Panorama, you will see a far more dramatic view of this Gap Between The Cliffs,
…As you scroll to the right, you first see from an elevated height, the Gallatin River, which has come from, the Bozeman, MT area, back East,. About mid Panorama, you see the large grassy area of “Fort Rock”, and see how being largely bare rock, is mostly clear of trees, and being an elevated platform, would make it easier to watch for attack and easier to defend.
…Continued scroll to the right, you see, from an elevated viewing height, the combined Madison & Jefferson Rivers, respectively from the South and West. And with more scrolling, you see the vehicle access, Parting Lot. Continued scroll to the right, you AGAIN see the above mentioned => “Far more dramatic view of this Gap between the Cliffs”, Of A Major Mountain Ridge.
