Part III: The Illustrated "Zen & the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance" Chapters 16 thru 26.

The Rugged, Baking Hot Desert!

….(The Narrator has just covered the many very important instances of the “mu” that, to our own great loss, we ordinarily fail to even notice! This is because, in our culture, we are so used to dualistic “yes & no”, we don’t have any awareness that there are other possibilities!
….Here is The Narrator’s concluding paragraph that completes the Mu Chautauqua =>
…. “In motorcycle maintenance the mu answer given by the machine to many of the diagnostic questions put to it is a major cause of gumption loss. It shouldn’t be! When your answer to a test is indeterminate it means one of two things: that your test procedures aren’t doing what you think they are or that your understanding of the context of the question needs to be enlarged. Check your tests and restudy the question. Don’t throw away those mu answers! They’re every bit as vital as the yes or no answers. They’re more vital. They’re the ones you grow on! . . . This motorcycle seems to be running a little hot . . . but I suppose it’s just the hot dry country we’re going through . . . I’ll leave the answer to that in a mu state . . . until it gets worse or better . . . “ (Cont.Next)

Above Photo Is Used To Represent The US-26 Travel Scenery ~A Mile West From Rt-19 Junction, At John Day River. ….In the above passage, we clearly see the Narrator has continued with words “ Mu state“ worked into the travel Narrative & landscape description.
…Although you may not have agreed with many of my previous statements, about how the ZMM Narrator uses the events (or passing scenery) to poetically amplify or reflect, his Chautauqua, the above ZMM Passage is a very obvious & good example this poetic transfer, which in previous photos has been called Metaphoric Bridge Connection =>
….Please learn to look at every place where the Narrator abruptly switches from the Chautauqua to the scenery/action (or the reverse).
….I believe you will always find this “poetic amplification”, which I call Metaphoric Bridge Connections”
…. Amazing!
If you find opposite examples, you should let me know your thoughts.
