….In the absolutely lovely town of Hague, North Dakota, there is a cafe that’s recently received a fresh upgrade but kept to its old roots. People still drive from all over to visit this tiny city with a population of just 71 residents for the food at this cafe. The German special they have are especially popular and you’ll want to head over there to try it for yourself.
….In the itty bitty town of Hague, North Dakota, life is quiet among the small population of fewer than 75 residents.
….The town is known for its gorgeous church that stands tall among the little cluster of other buildings. That's not all people come here to see, however.
….The Hague Cafe recently moved and reopened under new management in late 2018, has gained a reputation for having absolutely terrific food — especially when they're having a German special
…The humble cafe is simple yet inviting both inside and out, and the warm, welcoming atmosphere is exactly what you'd hope for in a small town cafe. The delicious smell of home cooked-type foods will fill your nose when you walk in.
…Although the Hague Cafe has an entire menu of tasty items, from sandwiches to steaks and everything in between, it's their authentic German food that gets people talking.
…If you come on the right day you'll be treated to things like fleischkuekle, sausage, and of course North Dakota's favorite type of soup, knoephla.
….Different specials can include everything from mixed knoephla, sauerkraut, and sausage to a warm bowl of knoephla soup and a side of cheese buttons.
….Of course, the Hague Cafe has a wide variety of breakfast, lunch, and dinner meals that range from classic American diner dishes to seafood and all of it is scrumptious.
….Make sure to stop by when they have their German specials to enjoy all those timeless meals that North Dakotans love because the Hague Cafe knows how to do them right!
….The Hague Cafe is located at 220 Main Ave. W, Hague, ND 58542. To see their hours and check for their current special you can visit their Facebook page.
….North Dakota loves German food — that’s certainly no secret — and many of the state’s most iconic dishes are German. After having a hearty meal at the Hague Cafe, why not indulge in a classic German dessert: kuchen!.

This Is A Grotto Just North Of The Catholic Church In Hague ND.
… Approximately June 11, 2002..

…If you look closely you will see "cotton wood snow" in the air and “drifts
of the cottonwood cotton tufts around the sidewalk edges. (You may need to click on photo to make it bigger.)

CORRECTION By Henry Gurr July 7, 2021.
... The “snowdrifts”, are most noticeable at the cracks in the sidewalk, rather than the edges.
...In the /\ Above /\ Photo => Look at the tree trunk’s dark bark at right: You can see the specks of falling Cotton Tufts. These falling Tufts are from the large Cottonwood Tree, who's green leaves at top, are also providing shade, on the sidewalk.

This Sign Announces => The World Famous Big J Restaurant,
…Which is Several Blocks North Of The US-12 Main Highway, Bowman, ND!
……Note Canadian Flag At Top Of Sign.

…On my second ZMM Trip to Bowman, ND (Sept 2006), my son David discovered this provocative sign. Of course I had to get a photo and here it is!
…This sign announces good food and friendly people, which happens to be quite true!.
...Back in 2002, when I was actually at this restaurant, I had no idea it was world famous!
…On my third ZMM Trip to Bowman, ND (Aug 2019), I discovered the Big J Restaurant was under new management & had moved away from this town’s Main Business District, to along US-12, which now-a-days is Commercial Alley. All this combined makes it doubtful about this restaurant’s quality.

I Met Many Helpful People At Big J's Restaurant, Bowman ND. … Approximately June 12, 2002.

Good Food! Good Service! Cautious, But Ultimately Friendly, People.
…Here is where I explain my ZMM research and ask about the history of the Big J Restaurant.
…In response to my queries, and un-be-knownst to me, local resident Les Snavely was summoned. Mr Snavely (Shown in my photo Blue Link previous photo), who is himself a ZMM enthusiast, said the “lone elderly person” in ZMM was likely Bowman resident, Mr. Claude White, who DID own a Henderson Motorcycle!
....Mr. Snavely should know! He is an Antique Motorcycle Enthusiast. He is known all over USA for his expert knowledge (and extensive collection) of old cycles.

The ZMM Narrator, Chris and the Sutherlands Came Along This Road in Mid July 1968. At That Time This Land Was Experiencing A Fierce Heat Wave, and the Emotional Impact Of This Barren Tortured Landscape Made It Even Worse Them. On my second trip to Miles City and Bozeman, I paid more attention after Bowman and was successful in finding the Narrator's Bad Lands. The transition from productive irrigated fields to this awesome scar is readily visible in aerial photos. Search Google Maps (or Mapquest) for Bowman, ND. Then request "combined map & aerial, then move West along Rt 12 for 14 miles. You will see what I mean. Marmarth, MT. ************************************ (Photo = Summer 2006 0336......
