These 12 Photos were taken by Robert Pirsig’s very own camera, as he Chris, Sylvia and John made that 1968 epic voyage upon which The Travel Narrative for Mr Pirsig’s ‘‘Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance‘‘ (ZMM) book was based. Taken in 1968 along what is now known as ‘‘The ZMM Book Travel Route ‘‘ each photo scene is actually ‘‘Written-Into ‘‘ Mr. Pirsig’s book => ‘‘Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance‘‘ (ZMM)

Author Robert Pirsig’s Own 12 Color Photos, Of His 1968 ZMM Travel Route Trip: Each Is Written-Into His ZMM Book. AFTER the 5 Albums Cones Up, Read & ClickOn 2nd Down.

Each of the 832 photographs in these Four Albums show a scene described in the book ‘‘Zen and Art of Motorcycle Maintenance‘‘. Each photo was especially researched and photographed along the ZMM Route to show a specific ZMM Book Travel Description Passage: This passage is shown in quote marks below the respective photo. As you look at each of these photos, you will be viewing scenes similar to those that author Pirsig, Chris, and the Sutherlands might have seen, on that epic voyage, upon which the book ‘‘Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance‘‘ was based. Thus it is, that these 832 photographs are ‘‘A Color Photo Illustrated Zen and Art of Motorcycle Maintenance‘‘. Indeed ‘‘A Photo Show Book‘‘ for ZMM. Sights & Scenes Plus Full Explanation.

Each of these 28 photos are Full Circle Panorama Photos Seven-Feet-Wide. They were taken along the Travel Route of the book ‘‘Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance‘‘. They show a 360 degree view, made by stitching together eight photos. This album shows what I saw  on my RETURN trip home (San Francisco California to Aiken South Carolina), Summer 2002. These 55 photos were taken along the Route of the “1849er’s Gold Rush to California” (In Reverse Direction). After I completed my ZMM Research, I RETURNED home by way of the Route of the ‘49’s Gold Rush. This route included the route of the “California Gold Rush Trail” (in Nevada & California), as well as portions of the Oregon Trail' all the way into Missouri. These 1849er’s Travel Route Photos, were taken AFTER I took those Photos shown in the above Album named “A Color Photo Illustrated ZMM Book, With Travel Route Sights & Scenes Explained”.

Starting Monday 19 July 2004, Mark Richardson traveled the ZMM Route, on his trusty Jakie Blue motorcycle. Mark made these 59 interesting photographs of what he saw along the way. As he toured, he pondered his own life destiny (past present future), and sought to discover his own deeper personal meaning of the book “Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance”.

I Coin A New Term => “Radical, Radical Constructivism”. My Take-Off From Radical Constructivism by Ernst Von Glasserfield.
In above-mentioned OriginHO3, I have said that Constructivism Theory is applied in Sociology and Teaching. To me, Constructivism should be applied to ALL human experience, Because =>: We as individuals (and a society), construct in our minds, essentially the Whole Universe!! As Pirsig says quoted D) above), "…Quality is the continuing stimulus which causes us to create the world in which we live. All of it. Every last bit of it."
…Robert Pirsig is not alone in this conclusion: In addition to myself, I have seen others of similar understanding, such as Owen Barfield quoted in OriginHO3, and much more below.( Use Browser Top > Edit > Find > Barfield. )
BOTTOM LINE #1: Above are the reasons, I coin the new term => “Radical, Radical Constructivism”

I Coin A SECOND New Term => “Radical, Radical, Radical Constructivism”. My 2nd Take-Off From Glasserfield Above.
I Give THIS Name, To Say HOW It Is That =>
Our Brain Can Automatically Spontaneously Generate, Construct, Create The Universe Around Us: In Other Words, Do Constructivism! Performing Simultaneously The Following =>

1) Be a Partial Fit General Problem Solver Brain, where as stated in NOTE 1 below: “It is useful and revealing to consider everything our mammalian brain does, is “Automatic Spontaneous Problem Solving”.
2) Where, In response to life’s problems coming at us (over ~95 percent of the time), our Problem Solving Brain, very quickly, Generates, Constructs (Constructivism) Creates Valid Problem Solutions (Answers), which Mentally Arrive into our conscious mind, and amazingly are the Best Or Near Best Answers, for the problems presented.
3) Where the Achieved Solutions to problems, will be learned, and the learned solutions, are permanently added to memory, and thus get gradually built up into an integrated Constructed World View
4) Hence my name (and meaning) “Radical, Radical Constructivism”!
5) Keeping in mind the virtues of the above-mentioned Partial Fit General Problem Solver Brain, it is to be understood that this document, and particularly the below List of Mental Arrivals, is ~observed data, in support of the hereabouts discussion re The Problem Solving Brain.

NOTE 7: This document mainly is concerned with successful and wanted Mental Arrivals. This is because, most of the time, our brains are marvelously fast & correct
However, there are the Mental Arrivals, which are obviously UN-successful and UN-wanted, such as ones that are useless, just partly wrong, or all wrong.
Here are some Mental Arrival examples of complete or partial failure:
Two similar ideas (or words), get wrongly interchanged, and we don’t realize the error.
We intend to remember but we forget.
We try hard to remember a person’s name, but all we can get is the name of someone else.
We study the text book hard, but it’s still confusion.
Even worse: We panic on the test, and can’t remember how to do anything!!
We can’t see what is before our very eyes!!
Motorists often do NOT see the on-coming motorcycle.
Effectively what is not seen, is treated as “not there”, with disastrous results, in congested traffic!!
Another type of failure, is a mental-jump-track =>

You are intending to do one thing but find yourself doing something else (possibly similar)!---->You intend driving to your new job route, but just out the drive way, by habit turn opposite!

Concerning these failures, I will write a separate document. But here suffice it to say these words to the wise …

1) Be sure to notice, and remember your Mental Failures, when they happen. Make notes, and study why the error was made. With care and attention, you can learn to avoid many.. Especially for those cases which statistically are most numerous: We clearly are obliged, to learn about these, and add to our tool box of what to watch for.
2) Not all Mental Errors, are necessary bad, or un-wanted. I believe a certain low level rate or errors is our evolutionary heritage and left this way, so to speak somewhat on purpose (Although “purpose” should NOT ever be ascribed to Biological Evolution)
a) First off, it is just too hard Evolutionary Evo Devo to reduce error rate below the existing. That we see. And
b) Errors have constructive virtues: They show NEW responses, that may be BETTER, than what normally happens in a certain circumstance. It is up to us to notice why it happened, because this may show a new, unknown, pathway. And what happened, needs to be examined to see if a new idea, method, result is there that again was un-known.
c) It is possible that we have been making erroneous wrong decisions, for a long time. A sudden departure from our norm, due to what is first considered “an error”, may in fact be a correction, to what was our former long-time error!!
d) This Brings To Mind The So The Called Freudian Slip. Wikipedia says “A Freudian slip, also called parapraxis, is an error in speech, memory, or physical action that is interpreted as occurring due to the interference of an unconscious ("dynamically repressed") subdued wish, conflict, or train of thought ... “ Many think A Freudian slip, reveals persons secret darker illicit nature, hidden in UNconscious … I think (hypothesis), that these are just and merely, due to our normal brain errors, and are especially noticed (and thus especially remembered), because titillating, revealing, humorous. or embarrassing. … Plus: Yes these indeed such do come from the UN-conscious, because that is where (my hypothesis), that is where, 95% of our brain work is done, with only 5%, used for conscious awareness. This naturally explains (no dark revelations), the fact that such thoughts were indeed, NOT on the persons mind at the time, and clearly do come from the persons previous experience & thoughts, repressed of not.
And ... Oh Yes!, Oh-Ho!!, AHA!!!, Just Realized!!!! =>

Freudian Slips (Whether Mental Errors Or Not), Are Excellent Examples Of Mental Arrivals!!

… Keat’s Endymion seems like a good proof-text, precisely because it is a poetically conservative text – the idea of the line as a mental unit would be even more difficult to apply to more recent poetry, e.g. concrete poetry (but is that poetry?), prose poetry and others. Keats begins:

A thing of beauty is a joy for ever:
Its loveliness increases; it will never
Pass into nothingness; but still will keep
A bower quiet for us, and a sleep
Full of sweet dreams, and health, and quiet breathing.

… As I re-read it just now, I began to reconsider my original ideas, and see that there is something, at least in this text, to the idea that each line adds another something, or rather “tickles” the mind. (Also this could be in a new direction, or in a slightly new direction, continuing and reinforcing the direction it was already on, adding a shading to where the mind had been or ….)
… But this is incomplete, because: For what is happening, to my sense …. for whatever it’s worth at 2:40AM having woken up after 5 hours of sleep and my mind too active to fall back to sleep, so perhaps somewhat groggy ….
… But maybe that mind-state opens up possibilities also, for a different kind of mental process with a bit of dreaminess? What is happening, it seems to me at this reading, is a repeated and perhaps building tension between the line-by-line reading of the poem and the sense units, to be fully resolved, as in classical music, only at the end.
… The second line of this poem ‘tingles’ because the mind halts a split second after the word never before completing the thought-unit, as reflected in the grammatical structure, in the following line. During that interval, the active conscious brain is in a sort of suspended animation, providing a moment of silence during which the unconscious mind, the thinking which works by association rather than rational logic, is very active, even if the reader is not aware of it (that’s why it’s called ‘UN-conscious’!).
… This is the problem with the way a pupil will approach a poem when first learning how to read poetry. Either he will just read each line for itself, with a full stop after the line, then go on to the next line as if each one were unconnected from the others (this observation is based largely on recollection of my own first encounter with poetry, which was so un-siezable [fixated] to me, that you could say I have devoted the rest of my life to trying to learn how to properly read poetry) or else the pupil will read a poem as if it were prose, mentally erasing the line breaks. … For the reader to get to that point, takes a bit of familiarity with the medium, and a mind-set which is not rigidly confined to the straight-jacket of logic [what I would have called the mathematical or the engineering mind-set -- except that since elementary school math I have spoken with real mathematicians who have made me understand that there is a lot more to the field of mathematics than just mechanical calculation]. Many people never develop a satisfying interface with poetry, and just abandon the effort. (The press run for a volume of new poetry is miniscule.) I personally am often at a loss to read a newly minted poem, for example a poem I might encounter in the New Yorker, cannot find the poetry in it, or the meaning or its reason for being, and revert to one of the two beginner’s approaches mentioned above.

… Indeed, at this stage in my life, at least, I find it more rewarding to read contemporary poetry written in a language I have learned (French and Yiddish are probably the only two where I am fluent enough to fully enter the poet’s world, but I can with enough motivation also attack poetry in German and Spanish and get something out of it), more than in my native English, as counter-intuitive as that may sound. I have noticed this for many years, but have never completely thought it out. One element is that one reads more slowly in a learned language – perhaps that is helpful because the slower pace allows the unconscious mind to do more work, while the conscious brain is reading analytically.
… Another contributing element is one’s greater ability to notice or at least sense the pure music of the sounds, whereas in one’s own language, one tends to more easily just read for the meaning – signified aspect of a word – (what you refer to as the “dyadic” signifier), perhaps because one’s mind has learned since early childhood to leap directly from the former to the latter as two sides of the same coin. This may also be one reason why many poets sprinkle in less familiar words, which give the reader pause (in the literal sense).

… This speaks to me as a reader of poetry. Even if I might not correctly understand some of the terms such as “holistic’ which I assume means ‘as a whole’.

… I must admit that when I read a poem, I don’t get the same ‘tingling’ sensation very often, if at all, as with the analogy of falling in love, even for poems that profoundly affect me. But perhaps I am interpreting ‘tingling’ too literally. (I myself, I realize, have used the term ‘tickling’ in a sense other than the neurological.)

“I do not have the cite, but I would point to Speaker's Meaning as a prolonged meditation on this idea. What "words mean" at any given moment is their lexical meaning or dictionary definition; the "more" will be invested in them by the speaker's meaning. Words may take on "the form of things unknown" in virtue of the creative energies of what Barfield is calling "the speaker." We might just as well call him "the poet."
