…Note Crude, Figuratively And Literally, Hand Painted Words On Old Plywood, Which Is Explained By This =>

…In His Email July 7, 2022, Mr. Phil Newton, of Murphy, Oregon said =>
I knew Sandy and worked for many years with his friend [Ms. Marvel Lorenze]
….After Sandy died (not too many years ago) someone replaced the sign with, "Ever wonder what it's like to get shot in the ass?" Sandy's house was behind the field in back of the shop, off Rogue River Highway in Grants Pass. I imagine the local druggies were a problem.

Later In A Phone Conversation Feb 14, 2025 Mr. Phil Newton Further Explained =>
….For Sandy McGregor, Marvel Lorenze cared for him to his end. Several years ago, I visited her at a Nursing Home. She was in Long Term Care, and occasionally mentally confused. It took a long time for her to recognize who I was.
…Yes, Marvel stayed in Sandy’s house, and I remember visiting her there several times. But I have no knowledge of whether this [Sandy’s whole property] was willed to her, upon Sandy’s death.
…Yes, according to Marvel, Sandy remembered Robert Pirsig’s visit to Sandy’s welding shop in 1968. I remember Marvel mentioning, several times, the book Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance, and that Sandy liked it.
…I also remember talking to Sandy several times. Due to polio, he could not walk easily, but many times would ride speed bikes, really fast !! Like a Bat out of Hell !!
… His really fast rides were at race tracks and not on public highways. I learned about some of this, from seeing pictures of him and his bikes, several of which were 1930’s to. 1940’s. I don’t remember anything about Bonneville Flats or similar.
….I was never in Sandy’s Welding Shop. My visits there, were only in his house, when I visited Marvel.
…Yes I am a writer: My two books which have come out recently are “War” and “Terrane”, which is a novel.

In His Email Feb 16, 2025, Mr. Phil Newton, Expanded On His Above, Saying =>
… I would say that Marvel Lorenz didn't actually live at Sandy's during his last years, as I recall. I met her there on at least two occasions, to try to convince Sandy to take more care. (See below.)
…If you would, I would describe Marvel's mental acuity when we last visited as being somewhat vague, but ultimately lucid. She was receiving excellent care and was very comfortable, content, and pleased to see us.
…I worked with Marvel for many years, beginning in the early 90s and into the 2000s. I went to Sandy's house (behind his shop off Rogue River Highway, Grants Pass), in the early 2000s, in an effort to get him to receive more care. As he aged, his needs increased, and he was reluctant to accept the services he needed. With Marvel's kind insistence, Sandy was eventually able to get his needs met at home. Marvel was a special, caring, bright and selfless woman, a case manager who was loved by all. She was devoted to Sandy, and was his angel.
… In her early years, Marvel taught school. She worked for the state of Oregon for a long time, eventually retiring as an in-home care case manager with Oregon Project Independence.
…As for Sandy's [motorcycle] road-racing career, I know very little of it. Marvel was proud of his ability, and my impression was that he was quite good at the sport. He, of course, did all the work on his bikes himself.
…He never lost that gleam in his eye.
