Continued from previous photo: A discussion of the old farm house that Sarah lived in as a child.
This is the SAME ~1940 Black & White Photograph you saw previously, put here so you can look closely and can see, left to right:
1) In the left foreground, possibly a horse hitching rail, behind which is
2) A dark cylinder, supported by a ?chain?, from a horizontal bar between two support pillars with Y-Cuts at top. This could be access to a cistern or a hand dug well.
3) Two roof chimneys, at each end of the house, each likely for fireplaces on both lower and upper floors, and a big interior wall chimney, which marks the lower floor house kitchen, and thus the rear of the house.
4) There is a large screened-in rear porch, with a woman in white dress behind the screen door.
5) Looking closely at the roof lines, it is seen that the Summer Kitchen covers half of the lower east wall of the house:
6) Seen to right of the porch screens, is a door and window for the Summer Kitchen ,
7) as also another big chimney,
8) and a roof gutter drain leading to puzzling tall white objects seemingly at the Northern edge of the Summer Kitchen’s east wall. Are these rain barrels, or simply vertical pipes down to another cistern?
9) In the right foreground, by the big tree, possibly a carpenter’s saw horse.
back side of Black & White Photograph discussed in previous photo caption.
