Five miles North of Hopland, CA. In the Ukiah Valley (Also called Yokayo Valley), we are now following the ZMM Route in the Northern California Valley of the Russian River, which flows South downward trending between two mountain ranges, the Western one of which is seen in /\ Above /\ Photo. So yes, the Narrator is correct, when next says => “down through Ukiah, and Hopland, and Cloverdale …”
…This river, which originates from the mountains North of Ukiah, flows through Mendocino Lake. Then it flows down a low wide valley formed between two mountain ranges, for some 50 miles Southeast through Fulton, CA. Here it turns abruptly West, cuting through the western mountain range to the Pacific Ocean.
Since There Is Nothing “Russian” About This Valley, Why Is This The “Russian” River?
Wikipedia says => “The Russian River takes its current name from Russian Ivan Kuskov of the Russian-American Company, who explored the river in the early 19th-century and established the Fort Ross colony 10 mi (16 km) northwest of its mouth.”

In The 4th Next Photo, The Narrator Says “… And Hopland, And Cloverdale, Down Into The Wine Country.”. ,.
…As you view these photos of “wine country”, please remember a statement the Narrator made while we were back in the last high mountains of Oregon just prior to Medford, OR. On page 317, the Narrator is speaking of what he is then seeing, but also he is speaking in anticipation, of this area of California.
…Recall that he said => “The road drops steeply into a valley that becomes more exquisite as we descend. I never thought I would call a valley that -— exquisite —- but there’s something about this whole coastal country so different from any other mountainous region in America that it brings out the word. Here, [Medford] and a little farther south [Russian Valley], is where all our good wine comes from.“
