Friday, July 19, 2024: … Eleven Minutes After The Previous Photo, In The Distance, We Again Spot The ZMM Narrator’s => “….we pass the great stack of the Anaconda smelter, ….”
Along Rt-1 Approach To Town Of Anaconda, MT. GPS = 46.12686265923821, -112.92123604558128
…Surrounding the Stack in the distance, the grass-covered hills are “copper mining waste dumps” that have recently been “reclaimed”, which means leveled a bit, and helping grass to grow. Eventually, this may be grassland for cattle. … Closer to the road, you see a large Black Hill, of unidentified material. Send email if you have ideas what this might be.
…Back In 2002, I was able to stop much closer, to take my photo of “the great stack of the Anaconda smelter” , and upon leaving my car, I saw in the ditch along the road.=> Copper green colored rocks. The green may have been a copper deposit from water run-off, from the dump piles or actual pieces of copper ore.
…However, on this July 2024 trip we could NOT find the road I traveled I 2002. We are not sure if this road section is closed, or we missed the turn off.
