A Really Great Art Deco White Duplex Homes, West Arthur Street, Bozeman MT, just a bit over five blocks directly East of Montana State University’s Montana Hall.
In my first attempts, using Google Street View (GSV), to look for Sarah’s address 521 West Arthur St house, I had no clue which way to “fly” GSV along Arthur St, nor how far. So I kept click-jumping GSV, ahead along Arthur some 20 houses, when I found this Art Deco Duplex, I sooo… much wanted it to be Sarah’s!! BUT, as you can see the above the doors this is address 221 & 219 over doors. But since this was such a neat discovery, I Bookmarked it, and resolved to tell the architecture people at Competitions.org.

A Bozeman History Site gives the following: “Some new apartments and duplexes appeared in the south end of Bozeman during this period. The building at 219-221 West Arthur Street provides a simple but elegant example of the streamlined Moderne Style. The two-story stucco duplex with flat roof has a symmetrical facade with an outset enclosed entry. On either side of the front steps is a metal banister designed with three concentric arcs. The porthole windows in the front doors mirror the pair of porthole windows in the second story above. Pairs of two-over two windows are set in the corners. The horizontal lines of these window divisions mimic the horizontal bars in the portholes as well as the lines of the metal railing above the outset entry. “

You should notice the perfect Left-Right Symmetry, even to the driveways to the garages! Also study the Curved Metal Handrails of the front step, matching that of the Balcony, and the PortHole Door Windows, each mirrored in the second story.
