…..Note That In Some Places, The Far Distant Mountain Sides Are Cleared Of Trees By Sliding Winter Snow.
….Once here, Henry’s goal was hike ~2000 feet, to the tree-line, accessed by strip of green grass seen left of center in /\ Above /\ Photo: The plan was enter those trees, and thus explore the waters of upper Fox Creek. But as he tried to so for about 300 feet, Henry discovered the grassy slopes all dug up by Gophers or possibly Marmots. Nary could a step avoid the holes, or the dusty-squishy-loose mounds, of what were effectively Ground Hog Hills! Both Henry’s mind and legs bogged down. ….SO AGAIN: Those trees too far for one day’s time, and besides physical strength was giving out. :-(( ….Moreover it was getting late, and Henry needed enough time to get back to DeWeese’s, so Tina would not worry. Tina had said several times her concerns for my safety, and her saying she would come looking for me.

MORE DISCUSSION ON HOW ZMM AUTHOR ROBERT PIRSIG KNEW ABOUT THESE ABSAROKA MOUNTAINS, AND EVEN THIS LANGOR CAMGROUND. ….A) Back In March 2002, I (Henry Gurr) Wrote To Author Pirsig Telling Him Or My ZMM Route Research Plans: In Reply, Pirsig Said This Excerpt, Showing He Was Well Aware Of The Hyalite Area. =>
…. “To get a feeling of the mountains around Bozeman you might explore Hyalite Canyon, which is one canyon east of Cottonwood Canyon where the De Weeses’ lived. If you drive to the end and then follow the trail up to Hyalite Lake using a Geodetic survey map you will see more trails branching from there that are fabulous climbs. Better be in shape though.”
….B) I (Henry Gurr) Remembers A Newspaper Reporter Found Robert Pirsig in His Ford Pickup Camper, at Hyalite Canyon Langor Campground. The Only Refferences I Can Find (AND “Fits” What I Remember) is What Ian Glendinning Placed On His “Biographical TimeLine of Robert Pirsig” Click Here. July 1974: Now doing interviews about his best-seller, Bob becomes a "celebrity". Seeking seclusion, he makes trips in his RV / camper van back to the mountains near Bozeman, where the ideas for his new writing project can "develop their own momentum". 5th August 1974 - Interview in Bozeman by Tom Zito in the Washington Post. We learn that the working title for his next book he is already working on is "Them Pesky Redskins" [This was in fact Mr Pirsig’s 2nd Book “LILA”, In Gestation.}
