The ZMM Narrator's Earthquake Landslide. Cont Previous Photo.

… On my second trip to YNP, I encountered the landslide site mentioned by the ZMM Narrator.
…This photo fits to the right of the previous photo, showing the landslide which dammed up the Madison River and created what is now known as Earthquake Lake. This is the site of an earlier concrete and earth dam which created Hebgen Lake, as it was known at the time. ,
…The ZMM Narrator told Chris about this terrible event, while he and Chris were hiking in Mountains, and heard rock falls clattering. These reminded the Narrator of landslide worries, and told Chris of the Earthquake Landslide that killed 28 people.

…On August 17, 1959, the 7.3 magnitude Hebgen Lake earthquake located about 15 mi (24 km) north of West Yellowstone, Montana, produced a series of deadly landslides. The one seen here, often called the Madison Canyon slide, was responsible for the deaths of 28 people.
