Flowers In Front Of, At Left, A Black Painted House, Having A Very Large Brick Fireplace Chimney, Reminiscent of Robert Pirsig’s Father’s Home:
…HOWEVER, As Realized By ZMMQ Editor, Davd Mator => This Does Not At All Look Like Dean Maynard Pirsig’s House, 85 Clarence Ave SE, St Paul, MN 55414
DATE-LINE Sept 23, 2026, by Henry S Gurr.
…. Yes indeed, the /\Above/\ Photo does NOT show Dean Maynard Pirsig’s house. … So ii becomes my big project, to find just where this photo may have been taken. Most likely St Paul, MN (even Clarance Ave), because that is where many of John Sutherland’s house photos were taken.
…Thus, I used Google Street View, to examine all of the homes shown on Clarance Ave, from beginning to end at 96 Clarance Ave. Nothing, even close, was seen.
…Then: Remembering the very useful service called => “Google Find Image”, I Drag and Drop the /\above/\ image file.jpg, directly from my computer’s file system, into a Google Search Box, and type into The Ask Any Question Box => Where are these houses located St Paul MN (OR Minneapolis, MN). The Unhelpful assembled result said =>
…”While these specific properties are not linked to a verified public street address in Minneapolis, you can find concentrated blocks of identical 1920s Tudor Revival homes and integrated cottage gardens across several iconic residential neighborhoods in the city, such as”
….“Tangletown & Washburn Park: This neighborhood is famous for its winding, hilly streets that break away from the traditional grid system. Streets surrounding the historic Washburn Water Tower feature numerous storybook Tudors embedded directly into heavily sloped, densely planted perennial hillsides.”
….“Linden Hills & Lake Harriet Parkway: The residential corridors just blocks away from Lake Harriet—particularly along streets like 49th Street West and Busch Terrace—contain exceptional examples of smaller-scale, ivy-draped Tudor cottages showcasing naturalistic front-yard pathways and zero-turf landscaping.”
I do a SECOND type into The Ask Any Question Box => What is address of these two homes in,Prospect Park, in Minneapolis, MN. The result said =>
…”The Second Black Painted House is Located at 55 Malcolm Ave SE, Minneapolis, MN 55414, situated close to the historic Prospect Park "Witches Hat" water tower.
…However, I used Google Street View, to examine all of the homes shown on Malcomb Ave, from beginning to end. Nothing, even close, was seen.
I do a THIRD type into The Ask Any Question Box => What is address of the Black Painted House, Having A Very Large Brick Fireplace Chimney. The SECOND result said, the same as next above.
Conclusion: It Is Uncertain Just Where, Or Why, The /\Above/\ Photo Was Taken,
… Perhaps Photography Expert John Sutherland’s “Photographer’s Eye”, during our “Minneapolis Sights & Scenes Tour”, in a tree-lined neighborhood, with large expensive homes, was attracted by Another Black Painted House, reminiscent of Robert Pirsig’s Father’s Home Black Painted Home!
…And then, noticing Flowers, this was enough for him to stop his car, center his camera on this view, for us to enjoy!
NOTE: In the /\Above/\ Photo => Looking closely, upper left, you see a Whiteish Area. This must surely be from a glass window reflection, indicating this photo was taken from inside John’s car.
