Cont Fm Previous Photo: 8:27 am Tuesday May 24, A Typical View Of The Several Long Halls Walked To Get To Sarah’s Office, Bascom Hall, University of Wisconsin, Madison WI, 53706. …. The Lady In Distance, Is The Receptionist Who Agreed To Show Henry Gurr & His Camera The Way To Sarah’s Office. She Is Standing Beside Door To Sarah’s Office. SOME ARCHITECTURAL FEATURES TO NOTICE IN THE /\ ABOVE /\ PHOTO.
..1) The Varnished Natural Wood On => a) Door Framing, b) Base Board, and c) In The Distance Special Arched-Passageway Framing, that in this case Has a Frosted Glass Semicircular Window. This marks an architectural transition to a different part of the building. A forthcoming photo will show a similar example of this for Twin Arches.
..2) The Over Head Fire Sprinkler Plumbing Pipe & Electrical Conduits, as well as the Electric Illumination: These were most likely not there, in Sarah’s years1921-1923 .
..3) ….Please look closely at the very END of the Hallway => Notice the Sunshine “Glowing” Frosted Glass In Door, AND ALSO the Door with “Glowing” Frosted Glass Window, & above this door “Glowing” Transom Window.
..4) If you study the Bright Illumination in the Frosted Door Window, you can make out the Rectangular Shape of the Outdoor Window that by Sunshine Illuminates. You can even “see into “Frosted Colorings” and Imagine Exterior Buildings!!
..5) As stated previously, Office Doors With Illuminated Translucent Glass Windows, on purpose also illuminates the hallway: This light comes from outdoor sunshine illumination. In all older buildings, before electricity, all rooms had ample windows for sunshine illumination from outdoors.
..6) And can see the walls are ~Seashell White, similar to that seen (and mentioned) the Previous Photo With Doorway To The Receptionist Office.
..7) Also, you can see, the Diagonal Under-Boards, because the Smooth Asphalt Tile Flooring, has been removed.
..8) The Electric Light Fixture, hanging from the ceiling, is 1930’s Style. It is possible that Sarah saw these halls illuminated by Electrical Lighting. This is because 1920’s were early in the general adoption of electric lighting, and Madison WI, by this time had Coal Fired Steam Electric Power Generation.
Please Remember 1) AND 3) Above => You Will See A Similar Scene, For The OPPOSITE End Of This Same Hallway, SECOND Photo Next. …. The Next Photo Is Door To Sarah Jennings’ Office 1921-1923.
