USCA Science Building: 1)Passive Solar Energy Collectors, 2) Energy Saving Hoods in Labs & 3) Color Coded Ducts.
North Side of Our Science Building. As you may deduce, by contrast with the previous photo, this three-story science building is built into a hillside, with it's North face mostly earth embanked! These earth embanked building sides, are thus shielded from the cold winter winds which come mostly from the Northwest in the Aiken area. As is the case for our USCA Science Building, I was similarly involved with the planning of the first phase of the Ruth Patrick Science Education Center Building (RPSEC), where a number Energy Conserving Features were incorporated, as well as Architecturally Integrated Science Demonstrations. Science Building, USCA Campus, Aiken, SC. ************************************ (Photo = 5000m ...... WayPt = `000 |w|' 420 ft)
