USCA Science Building: 1)Passive Solar Energy Collectors, 2) Energy Saving Hoods in Labs & 3) Color Coded Ducts.
A Second Type of Energy Saving Chem Lab Hood Used In The USCA Science Building. If you look carefully, you will see that the front of the hood is covered with a glass pull-down panel. This hood blower fan is regulated so, the lower the glass panel is pulled down, the slower the blower tries to move the air. Net result is less noise and less energy consumption and less loss of heated (or cooled) room air.
