At 7 am, John and Susan were ready for me with a cup of coffee to wish me well on the trip. I rode over to the Sutherland's home, because it's on the way out of town, then headed west. I didn't go straight onto Hwy. 55, though: In Lila, Pirsig tells Robert Redford that ZMM "touched down" in Excelsior in chapter one, so I headed through there instead. Right or wrong, it was a pretty route.
