….The Story Of Sarah Jennings Vinke Field Research, With Help Of Mrs Lorna Baldner Grow:
Lorna Grow Is A Most Excellent & Knowledgeable Genealogical Researcher, And Helped Find Many, Many, Historical Records & Books About Our Sarah’s => Family, Childhood Old Farm, Childhood Home Town, And Even Sarah’s Mother’s Old Victorian House in Dallas Center!
Lorna’s Plan For The Day Was To =>
….1) Show to Henry the Considerable Jennings Family Research Information she had found in The Dallas County Genealogical Society Collection, at The Roy R Estle Public Library, in Dallas Center IA. From this Lorna knew
….A) All the historical Names of Jennings Family Members, in Dallas County.
….B) Among the findings was the fact that Sarah’s Paternal Grandfather Henry Jennings, at one time purchased some 3 sections of land just Northwest of Dallas Center, amounting to ~1200 Acres.
…. C) Lorna was also able to confirmed the names of Our Sarah’s parents.,
And Then
….2) Travel The Dallas County Courthouse, Adel IA, and show Henry the process of searching for each of the above mentioned “Jennings Names” in the Land Records, for Dallas County.
...3) When we entered the Courthouse Land Records Office, all the ~5 staff members recognized Lorna on sight, pushed open the swing-gate, and said ”Ok Lorna, go right in to the stacks! You know what to do!”
….4) Lorna’s above-mentioned Genealogical Society Collection findings Re Jennings , ultimately resulted in finding the Land Records of Our Sarah’s Childhood Farm, and Sarah’s Mothers House in Dallas Center.
.5) Staff was very helpful in making Xerox Copies of requested documents, which were available several days later. Naturally, we were careful to put everything back into it’s place, before giving our “goodbye & hearty thanks’.
.6) Henry later learned from Lorna that new Privacy Regulations, prevent obtaining any Land Record Information! So It’s a good thing our visit to the Courthouse was done in 2016!
…. Unfortunately, the only Courthouse record of Henry Jennings’ land we could find, was a ~80 acre tract, some 3/4 of a mile further North-West from an Old One Room School House …(( Which we later learned was close to Sarah's Childhood Farm! ))
….Even before Henry Gurr’s arrival, Lorna already knew where these all were located (only several miles from Dallas Center), and with instinctive drive of a Blood Hound on Quarry, took Henry Gurr (with GPS & Camera in hand), off she drove us in her car looking for QUARRY!!
